Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System has joined with other Veterans Health Administration facilities in supporting Project ChildSafe, the nation’s largest firearm safety education program.

Many Veterans own firearms, and many that do also have small children. The combination can be deadly, and in an effort to encourage firearm safety and reduce accidental discharges, Project ChildSafe distributes free, cable-style gun locks and firearm safety information.

These free gun locks are now available to Veterans through VA Police Service. Officers at each clinic location will distribute the locks to any Veteran who wishes to have one. You will be required to show your Veteran’s ID card to receive the lock.
