Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System will hold a Groundbreaking Ceremony Friday, June 25 at 10 a.m. The event will be held at 2400 Canal Street, the future site of the VA Medical Center, New Orleans. It is a public event; we welcome our Veterans, supporters and friends to join the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Eric K. Shinseki and other dignitaries at this long anticipated occasion.
The first phase of the project is the renovation of the historic Pan American Life Insurance building at 2400 Canal Street. It is here, under the shade of the New Orleans historic oak trees, the groundbreaking ceremony will be held.
On-site parking is severely limited due to ongoing construction work in the surrounding area. Shuttle service from the Superdome to the ceremony is provided free of charge beginning at 8:00 a.m. and will run continuously until 12:30 p.m.
The Superdome has a reduced their parking rate to $5.00 for the event. Please use garage #6, which is on the west side of the superdome facing Poydras.
Please join us as we celebrate the end of a long wait and the beginning of a bright future for Veterans' health care in southeast Louisiana.
