Optical shops open in Baton Rouge and New Orleans
Veterans and employees can now get optical assistance in one location thanks to two new programs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System.
SLVHCS opened optical shops in both Baton Rouge and New Orleans on May 2.
Nathan Dion, the administrative officer who helped coordinate the opening of the shops, said the goal was to create a personal shopper experience.
The Baton Rouge shops, located at 7968 Essen Park Avenue in the outpatient clinic, and the New Orleans shop, located at 1515 Poydras Street in the sixth floor eye clinic, are full-service optical shops. Veterans and employees can fill optical prescriptions and have glasses fitted on-site.
“Veterans have the option of scheduling appointments for a one-on-one consultation to help them pick out the right frames or they can walk in,” said Dion.
Patients and employees are able to select from a variety of designer frames in the latest colors, styles and materials, including sunglasses.
“Our focus is on helping Veterans and employees see more clearly,” Dion said.
Optical Shop hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
