SLVHCS supports American Legion town hall meeting

The American Legion held a town hall July 6, 2015 at American Legion Post 175 on 2431 Metairie Rd, Metairie, LA 70001. Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System Director Fernando O. Rivera attended along with SLVHCS leadership, Health Administration Service, Suicide Prevention, Quality Management and the OEF/OIF/OND program. Rivera spoke briefly about the status of the new medical center and answered questions about Mental Health program, the Choice Program and hiring initiatives.
“Our mission is an honorable one,” Rivera said. “Because of that, good people want to be a part of it.”
A representative from the Veterans Benefits Administration Regional Office was in attendance and gave brief remarks. About 25 people attended the event including representatives from Senators David Vitter’s and Bill Cassidy’s offices.
The American Legion is scheduled to meet with SLVHCS staff July 7 and tour the site of SLVHCS new 200-bed medical center under construction in Mid-City New Orleans.
SLVHCS employees are on hand to meet with Veterans at the American Legion Veterans Benefit Center held July 7 through July 9 at American Legion Post 175.
