This year, the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System will hold its Salute to the Flag Independence Day Program on Facebook Live. Please join us (virtually) at 10 a.m. on July 4, when 100-year-old Veteran Bob Richards will raise the flag at the Veterans medical center in New Orleans.

Just before 10 a.m. July 4, head to www.facebook.com/vaneworleans and scroll down to our live feed to watch the event.

This year’s event will have fewer people because in person COVID-19 physical distancing requirements mean we must keep our event to fewer than 10 people at the ceremony.

The COVID-19 pandemic has changed many aspects of our lives, and VA has resources to help Veterans deal with the challenges. The COVID Coach App was created to support self-care and overall mental health during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. If you need an appointment for a mental or physical health condition, call the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System at 1-800-935-8387 and press 2 to make an appointment. On the day of your appointment, you can check in faster using the COVID Screening Tool. If you need immediate help for a crisis, call the Veterans Crisis Line at 1-800-273-8255 and press 1.
