Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System
NOLA VA hiring fair for Veterans with disabilities

Potential employers are excited to meet with Southeast Louisiana Disabled Veterans at the New Orleans Veterans medical center.
The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System, the Veterans Benefits Administration New Orleans Regional Office, and the Louisiana Workforce Commission will host a hiring fair for people with disabilities from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday, October 24, 2019 at the Veterans medical center, 2400 Canal Street in New Orleans.
From 2 to 4 p.m., prospective employers will meet with disabled Veterans only. Then, from 4 to 6 p.m., the fair will be open to Veterans and the public, including those without a disability.
October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month. In the United States, approximately 2.3 million Veterans with a service-connected disability participate in the labor force, bringing their skills and leadership training to careers in every field.
“Employers know that the Veteran community offers a talented pool of job candidates, including those candidates who may have a disability connected to their military service.” said Medical Center Director Fernando O. Rivera. “We make hiring Veterans a priority, and we want to help others in our community do the same.”
Throughout the event, employers will meet with job seekers, with some conducting on-the-spot interviews. SLVHCS staff will also share information about current and upcoming vacancies within the health care system and how to apply for positions. Candidates are asked to bring resumes, references, and Veteran identification, if applicable.
Approximately two dozen organizations are expected to participate in this event, seeking qualified individuals to serve on their teams. Parking is available in the medical center’s patient and visitor parking garage on South Galvez Street. A full list of employers expected to attend the event is below.
